Virtual meeting on Hydrography between Vietnam Hydrographic Office and China Maritime Safety Administration

On the morning of February 23, 2021, the Vietnam Hydrographic Office and the China Maritime Safety Administration conducted an online technical exchange in the field of hydrography. The Vietnamese delegation led by Rear Admiral Tran Ngoc Quyet, Deputy Chief of the Navy Staff, Chief of the Office of the Vietnam Hydrographic Office and members attended the virtual meeting.

At the virtual meeting, the two sides presented a number of main contents, including: Introduction about the history of formation and development, organizational structure and functions and tasks of hydrographic agencies of the two countries; the process of joining the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the East Asian Hydrographic Office (EAHC); introduce technology in surveying, editing, establishing paper charts, electronic charts and marine publications; capacity building programs and training.

Speaking at the virtual meeting, Rear Admiral Tran Ngoc Quyet expressed his thanks to the China Maritime Safety Administration for organizing the virtual meeting so that the two sides had a deep understanding of each other; hopes that China will soon support and recognize the membership status at the East Asia Hydrographic Committee (EAHC) of Vietnam. At the same time, this is also an opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen, expand and develop cooperation in hydrographic field with member countries of IHO and EAHC.
